Kenneth J. Harvey and Kafka Pictures join forces on Pill Factory series

Acclaimed Author and Director Kenneth J. Harvey and Kafka Pictures announced today that they have agreed to collaborate on Harvey’s apocalyptic drama series Pill Factory, a searing social commentary that imagines a nightmarish future where terrorists have destroyed the world’s pharmaceutical supply.
An international best-selling author and award-winning filmmaker, Kenneth J. Harvey’s 2018 film Immaculate Memories: The Uncluttered World of Christopher Pratt, received a Canadian Screen Award nomination for Best Feature Length Documentary, and his 2017 filmI Heard the Birch Tree Whisper in the Nightwon the jury prize for Best Canadian Feature at the Regina International Film Festival.
Over the course of his career, the St. John’s, Newfoundland native has written over a dozen novels, including international best-seller The Town That Forgot How to Breathe, and is a winner of the Rogers Writer’s Trust Fiction Prize, the Thomas Raddall Atlantic Fiction Award, and Italy’s Libro Del Mare.
The project will be spearheaded by Kafka Pictures partner and head of development Jim Rapsas who said: “Kenneth J. Harvey is a gifted storyteller whose work never fails to be imaginative, insightful and evocative. Pill Factory represents Kenneth at his soul-stirring best and is certain to not only entertain audiences, but also make them think, and unsettle them in the best way possible.” Rapsas is a two-time Emmy Award winning Executive Producer whose recent credits include Robert Kirkman’s Secret History of Comics and Eli Roth’s History of Horror for AMC. He has developed drama series for Piller-Segan Entertainment, Fox Television Studios, ABC Family/Freeform and Entertainment One. He also created the Global (Canada), ITV (UK), NBC (US) scripted sci-fi series Strange Days at Blake Holsey High, which ran for four seasons earning multiple Daytime Emmy nominations and a BAFTA nomination.
